Brandon Davis II has stepped into the spotlight in a way Cedar Grove hasn’t seen in over a decade. The freshman quarterback is the first 9th grader to start at “The Grove” in 10+ years, and he’s making the most of it while on varsity. Here are a few things that I love about his game- his ability to move around the pocket, his ability to throw on the run, his accuracy, and his leadership.
Through three starts, Davis has gone 2–1, averaging 244 total yards per game, while showing poise beyond his years. In his latest outing against Alpharetta, he went 11/21, posted 190 yards and 2 touchdowns, keeping the Saints’ offense rolling.
Davis is surrounded by talent, with weapons like Derico Welch (#15, 6’5” sophomore) and Desean Hendrix (#1, 6’3” senior) giving him big targets to attack defenses with. Guided by head coach Rich Freeman—the former Morehouse College leader—Davis is developing in a system that knows how to build winners.
Looking ahead, he’s already earned a spot in the 2025 Military Appreciation Bowl, a testament to both his production and potential. But for Davis, the mission is bigger than stats or accolades. When asked about his goals, his answer was simple:
“Bring the culture back to The Grove.”
If his early play is any indication, he’s well on his way.
